Director Ashu Trikha who's busy putting the finishing touches to his next film Zindagi Tere Naam has been flooded with congratulatory SMSs from friends in the film fraternity. Reason: He's bringing back yesteryear's hit pair Mithun Chakravorty and Ranjeeta after a gap of over two decades.

"Mark my words, the response from the audience will not be any different. They will fall in love with this couple all over again," says an upbeat Trikha.

Although, Trikha was adamant that he wanted only Ranjeeta opposite Chakravorty in the love track featuring an older couple, convincing the actress was an uphill task. "When I called her, she told me that she had taken a sabbatical from films and didn't intend to make a comeback," recalls Trikha.

Hard to convince
He was not to be deterred. Trikha continued pursuing her and Ranjeeta was eventually persuaded to listen to the script. "She liked the story and I knew then that I would convince her eventually. Later, when I told her that she would be paired with Mithunda she smiled. And I knew she was in," says Trikha.

If Ranjeeta was cautious so too was Chakravorty. According to Trikha during the narration he didn't catch even a spark of excitement on his face pre-interval. "But once we moved into the second half, he was all charged up," Trika smiles. "When I ended the story he was visibly moved and told me I was going to make the audience cry."

Rajeeta and Chakravorty have given several jubilees in the past like Suraksha, Tarana and Hum Se Badkar Kaun.
