Harnish Patel received life-threatening injuries during the terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008 but has surprised doctors and others by making a complete recovery and taking on new jobs. Patel, 30, who suffered serious injuries in his legs and chest during the shooting spree at Leopold
Cafe on November 26, 2008, has become a reservist with Royal Navy apart from having a new job as a chartered surveyor.

Based in Havant near Portsmouth, Patel also ran the London Marathon and several half-marathons recently.

"It's great being back in a professional working environment doing what I enjoy doing. Life is great, everything is starting to come together albeit all very simultaneously," he told local media.

Patel said that some people were "a little surprised" to learn about his intentions to join the Royal Navy following his experiences in Mumbai.

"The bottom line is that after the attacks I vowed to get life back on track and crack on. And that is precisely what I intend to continue to do."
