If seeing your hairy arms and legs day-in and day-out makes you frustrated, the best option to get rid of them permanently, all you think of is going for a laser hair removal treatment. But one should
not blindly go for laser treatments and should check what all complications and side-effects it can have on your skin.

“It’s very important to check the qualification and experience of the person who carries out the laser treatment. A lot of beauticians do laser treatments and hence side effects like burns and scars are possible,” says Rohini Wadhwani, Skin Essentials. “Laser treatment is basically done for acne scaring, rejuvenation, hair removal and pigmentation.

Also, laser treatment does not mean that only one visit is required. One may have to go for 3 or 4 sittings depending on the treatment one is going for,” says Sangeeta Amladi, head medical, Kaya Skin Clinic. Model turned actress Sushma Reddy says, “I get personalised, intelligent, state of the art treatments one should be careful when taking such treatment else it can harm one’s skin.”

Precautions after treatment:
One should avoid perfume, body lotions, after-shave, make-up and deodorant.
You may use a deodorant, which is free from alcohol, perfume and aluminium.
Avoid heat treatments such as hot baths or showers and saunas.

The common queries:
How many sittings will I need?
On average we recommend a course of 6 sessions. However, some clients do not need to return after 3 treatments.
Can I remove the hair between treatments?

You can remove the hair by  shaving, trimming or depilatory cream. Waxing and plucking are not acceptable methods of removing the hair between treatments.

Must remember:
Use an aftercare product such as aloe vera gel.
Avoid restrictive clothing or excess friction on the treated area.
Avoid facial and body treatments until the skin has returned to normal.
Do not apply ice packs — it can shock and traumatise skin.
Notify the clinic of any change in medical conditions.
