Akshay Kumar who signed on as the brand ambassador for Canadian Tourism Commission earlier this year, has confirmed that he will be co-producing a film with the the Canadian government. The step will also help him realise his dream of producing a Hollywood movie under his banner, Hari Om
Productions, which has been named after his late father.

The actor-producer however will not be facing the camera for his maiden international venture.

Akshay KumarA source close to the actor reveals that since he launched his production house, it has been his dream to make a Hollywood film. And given his immense popularity in Canada, Kumar believed that co-producing a film with the country was the best way for him to go global.

Robert Lieberman, whose latest film, The Tortured, is scheduled to release later this year, will helm Kumar’s co-production. The film has been titled Break Away. Canadian-born actress, Emily VanCamp, who was seen in the dramatic thriller Carriers, has been signed on as the leading lady.

Kumar was specially invited by the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to host an exclusive dinner meet with Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, on June 27, during the G-20 Summit, at Toronto’sWestern Harbour Cafe Hotel.

To be shot extensively in Canada, Break Away is scheduled to start next year. On May 9, 2008, Kumar was presented with an honorary doctorate of law by the University of Windsor, Ontario, for his acheivements in cinema and social work. He was one of the torch-bearers at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay.
