Terming the failure of Copenhagen environment summit as a "serious loss" for poor and underdeveloped countries, CPI-M on Monday said it would have "serious repercussions".
Poor countries in particular will feel the effect of any policy to check environmental pollution, CPI-M general
secretary Prakash Karat told a press conference in Guwahati.
Hitting out at the Centre for the price rise of essential commodities, he said the state governments should also share the responsibility of passing on the burden to the poor.
Voicing the party's opposition to division of any state, including Andhra Pradesh, Karat said, "Meaningful autonomy has to be provided to groups."
Referring to the ULFA problem, he said dialogue should be held to solve the problem.
