Defence Minister AK Antony on Friday said Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama was an honoured guest of India but he would not be allowed to indulge in political activities in New Delhi. "The Dalai Lama is an honoured guest of our country but at the same time he would not be allowed to
indulge in political activities," he said when asked about the Chinese accusations that the Buddhist leader was spoiling relations between India and China.

The Defence Minister was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a Defence Awards ceremony here.

Beijing has been opposing the Dalai Lama's proposed visit to a Buddhist monastery in Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other top political leadership have been maintaining that the spiritual leader was India's guest and can visit any place in the country but is not allowed to indulge in politics here.

On the ongoing visit of a US Defence delegation to India, Antony said, "It is a routine thing. We have a close interaction with them occasionally and that interaction is going on at the Defence Secretary level."
