President Pratibha Patil on Thursday condoled the death of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and said it was a tragedy for the entire region.
In her condolence message, Patil, who is at present at the Andaman and Nicobar Island, said "we have heard the tragic news of the
assassination of Benazir Bhutto with deep shock and grief. It is a tragedy for the people of Pakistan to lose a leader of her stature in her prime."
She said the "tragedy underscores the menace that terrorism poses to us and to the stability of our society. Her assassination is a tragedy not just for Pakistan but for the entire region."
"We stand with people of Pakistan in this hour of grief," she said.
