Three live bombs, which were found from three residential areas of Varacha locality in Surat on Tuesday, were defused by police. The third live bomb was found hanging on a tree behind Matavadi police outpost in the Varacha area, police said. Police had earlier found two bombs from in
Labheshwar and Santoshinagar areas of Varacha.

While the bomb disposal squad was defusing the first bomb, which was kept inside an abandoned bag, at Labheshwar, another live bomb was reported from the nearby Santoshinagar area, which was later de-activated.

According to police both the areas from where the bombs were recovered were residential and are usually crowded.

The bomb squad, which had already defused two live bombs found near a police station in Labheshwar and Santoshinagar area, later removed the third bomb from the tree and defused it successfully, police added.

The police have sounded a 'high alert' in the city in the wake of live bombs found within a span of three hours from residential localities of the Varacha area.

They said the contents of the bombs have been sent to the forensic science lab for analysis. According to police, out of three bombs, two were found near police outposts of Varacha area.
