In an e-mail to the British High Commission, a British freelance journalist has alleged that she was raped two weeks ago by the owner of the Udaipur guest house where she was staying.
The Udaipur police arrested Parvat Singh, owner of the Pardesi Guest House, on Wednesday. “The victim
has alleged that on the night of December 23, when she was staying at the guest house, she asked for an extra blanket,” said Govind Gupta, SP, Udaipur. “Parvat Singh personally brought it for her, and then raped her.”
In another incident, a 28-year-old American tourist was also allegedly molested by a priest in front of the Papmochni temple on the bank of Pushkar lake on Tuesday. The priest, 35-year-old Satyanarayan, has been arrested.
