Rajat Kapoor in a q-and-a session with Rachana Dubey. What’s this Hulla about?
It’s about these two gentlemen who live in the same society. One of them, a new resident, doesn’t like the watchman whistling at night. The other, who is
the secretary of the society, insists he do it for security reasons. And you would be the.. The character who is frustrated because he’s never had power in his life.

Do you like the watchman whistling?
No, I hate any kind of noise. I’m a shantipriya man.

The film like several others in the past, sounds like Bheja Fry revisited.
Imitation is the best form of flattery. But it is also the sign of an unimaginative filmmaker. Over the last 18 months, I’ve been flooded with offers similar to Bheja Fry. But I haven’t accepted any. If I picked up Hulla it’s only because it’s nothing like Bheja Fry.

Is the Bheja Fry sequel on?
There was a lot of buzz but I don’t think a script has been written yet. But if Sagar (Bellary) approaches me to act in it or produce it, I will.

You’ve been making a lot of big appearances in small budget films and vice versa.
(Laughs) I only did two big budget films, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Krazzy 4. And even the small budget films have been few. After Hulla, there’s I’m 24 and Raat Gayi Baat Gayi.

Apparently, Raat Gayi Baat Gayi has a nude scene featuring Neha Dhupia and you?
Rubbish! Don’t believe every piece of gossip you hear or read. There’s no such scene. And I haven’t been building my body for it.

But Raat Gayi Baat Gayi is being promoted as an ‘adult’ comedy. Is there a market in India for such films?
I don’t know, I’m not a trade analyst. I made Mixed Doubles earlier. It was an ‘adult’ comedy and worked well. So, if a film is made well, it has an audience.

You had signed a contract with PNC for five films. What’s happening on that front?
Two of the films have already come and gone. Raat Gayi Baat Gayi is next. The rest are underway.

Neha Dhupia and you have been doing more movies together than Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
Ha ha.. really? But that’s probably because Saurabh Shukla adores Neha and features her in all his films. She’s a fantastic actress. Saurabh is equally fond of me. So, we end up in most of his films. (With a twinkle) What did you think? That Neha and I were sitting and plotting our releases? What’s next? My play Hamlet opens today. And I have my fingers and toes crossed.
