The situation in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh and Tonk, which witnessed communal tension on Saturday, was peaceful on Sunday, police said. However, there was no relaxation in curfew in Chittorgarh, imposed after Saturday's incidents. Chittorgarh Superintendent of Police Mahesh Goyal
said the situation in the town was by and large peaceful since last evening. However, as a precautionary measure there has been no relaxation in curfew, he said.

There have also been no arrest so far in this connection, the SP said.

A high-level meeting of top officials of the district was on to review the situation, sources said.

Yesterday, tension was triggered in the town over a minor argument between members of two communities after one group burnt down a motorcycle of another group.

Later, at least 18 persons, including five policemen were injured and dozen shops torched by an angry mob, police said.

Police had to fire rubber bullets and teargas shells to disperse clashing groups after the incident and curfew was clamped in the town.

Meanwhile, in Tonk city the situation was peaceful on Sunday. The situation turned tense yesterday during Holi celebrations when members of a particular community were taking out a Holi procession at Heera chowk and youth of another community allegedly used abusive language against them, police said.
