Fresh violence erupted in several parts of Jammu on Sunday when police and protesters clashed despite the imposition of curfew in the city and its suburbs. Nearly 30 people were injured in these clashes. Fearing more aggression, the state administration has decided to re-impose the
curfew.

Clashes over the Amarnath land transfer revocation have injuring more than 50 people, including 21 policemen.

Police, CRPF and RAF personnel have been deployed in the city and other parts of the district to maintain law and order, sources said.

More than 200 Rapid Action Force personnel were deployed at the Parade ground along with the J&K police to take the control of the situation.

Earlier, the situation at Purani Mandi turned violent as police and local people accompanying a procession in the memory of Kuldeep Dogra, who had allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday, fought a pitched battle at many places that left many injured, including some police personnel.

A police officer said: “We had received  reports that the mob would turn violent during the tribute ceremony (for Dogra). So it was decided to re-impose curfew (in Jammu).” Many top BJP leaders have been arrested across the region.
