Continuing his attack on the Manmohan Singh government at the Centre, BJP leader L K Advani on Sunday said the UPA rule had "no achievement" to claim compared to the NDA's performance under A B Vajpayee. Hitting the campaign trail in Kerala a day after Singh's visit, Advani said the Lok
Sabha polls were an opportunity for the people to compare the performance of the UPA and the NDA governments.

"While the country made strides in every sector under the NDA, UPA's performance had been dismal on all fronts," he said. This was a government which came to power in the name of commonman. But in the last five years, it did not do anything for the ordinary people, he alleged.

Turning to the Left, Advani said Communism as a political ideology had vanished from all the states except West Bengal, Tripura and Kerala.

The Left parties were fighting the Congress in these three states, but at the national level they were in the same camp, he said, adding that the people should realise the double standard in their approach.

When the NDA was in power at the Centre, many states were ruled by other parties. But the government did not discriminate against any state on political grounds, he said.

Total progress of the country and social security could be ensured only by the NDA, he added.
