Driven to despair by her husband's alleged homosexual relationship with his cousin, a young homemaker committed suicide on their fifth wedding anniversary in Kolkata.
The incident occurred on Monday at Kaikhali on the northern fringes of the city. Preeti Verma, 32, left behind a suicide
note, blaming her husband Sanjoy and in-laws for mentally and physically torturing her, the police said.
"Sanjay and Preeti were married for five years but the former remained very close to his cousin Manoj. That relationship must have driven her to suicide," a neighbour said.
"There was constant friction between the couple over this issue," another local resident said. Sanjay and his cousin have been arrested.
