Akhilesh should stop wasting his time in getting even with the BSP
With reference to the report SP overrules Maya, renames 8 districts (July 24), UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav’s renaming of eight districts in the state won’t help the common man. It’s a political gimmick, aimed at getting back at former UP chief minister Mayawati, who had changed the names of these districts during her tenure. Rather than occupying himself with such frippery, the CM should concentrate on providing ample power and water supply to all districts.

Sending out a wrong message
The editorial Hit the delete button (The Pundit, July 24) rightly states that using the name of a deceased person to send emails is in bad taste. Aarushi Talwar’s aunt shouldn’t have done so to garner support for her parents, who are accused of killing Aarushi and their house help Hemraj. If the parents want to prove their innocence to people, they should cooperate with the investigation agencies in nabbing the real culprit(s). Sending mass emails and accusing the Central Bureau of Investigation of victimising them won’t help the Talwars.

The right way to go about the BRT
With reference to the report Arrogant car users opposing BRT: Delhi govt (July 24), the real problem with the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system is that there is still a lot of confusion among people on how to use it. The government should allow private vehicles to use BRT lanes, as this will ease the overall traffic situation. Contrary to the administration’s belief, doing this will not affect bus movement. Instead, it will go a long way towards tackling traffic jams around the BRT corridor during rush hours.
