Metropolises are mostly the same, give or take a few ways. That, as arguable a premise as it sounds, makes the most of Delhi Vs Bangalore, a blog that aims to capture the essence of life in the two cities vis-a-vis one another’s.

There’s Delhi Police vs Bangalore Police, Central Secretariat vs the Vidhana Soudha, rooftops, book shops, bus stops, festive celebrations, food, auto meters and more. The ‘versus’ there appears misplaced though, for in no aspect does Delhi seem to be competing with its brother in the South; in fact, it’s more like they’re singing that ‘same same but different’ tune, and pouring out their common soul.

The Delhi pictures are clicked by photographer Nidhi Srivastava, who thinks it’s the pigeons here that she loves the most, “but I’m really not sure”, she says, and Bangalore has been lensed in by shutterbug Priya Prakash, who is more decisive in her love for her city. “Apart from the weather? The people, the chaos, the constant (good) change that the city is subjected to!”

The blog is inspired by the London vs Paris project, which draws out the two cities on similar lines. Some only wish that the Indian parallel brought out the contrasts and drew some comparisons too. “While most of the pics highlight similarity in the two cities ... it might be attractive to see differences too,” reads one of the comments on the blog by a reader named Aseem.

That said, for those living in either city and with less or no view of the other, this is a worthy insight into the common blood that binds the country — east west north south irrespective.
