Accusing BJP nominee from Pilibhit Varun Gandhi for promoting commualism by giving inflammatory speeches against a particular community, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Wednesday said he has no moral right to affix Gandhi in his name. "This Gandhi of new age is promoting
communalism by giving inflammatory and violent speeches against a particular community and is advising people to follow the path of violence. A person with such a behaviour should not be called a Gandhi. He has no moral right to affix Gandhi in his name," Mayawati said during an election rally in Pilibhit.

The BSP supremo also attacked Varun's mother and BJP leader Maneka Gandhi and accused her of ignoring the people of Pilibhit, from where she was elected MP in the last elections.

"Maneka Gandhi, who had been an MP from this constituency for long and had also served as Union Minister, ignored Pilibhit and failed to protect honour and integrity of the people," she alleged.

Mayawati alleged that behaviour of Maneka and her son Varun was a clear indicator that their mentality was anti-Dalit. "During her stint as the Union Minister, Maneka got the pictures of Dr Ambedkar removed from her office. As an MP, she did nothing for the uplift of the downtrodden," she said.
