Shahana Goswami is only 22. Yet, she is doing roles that have many in the industry lauding her as the next big thing.
Although the
Rock On!! girl counts herself among those who have stood in front of the mirror and practiced their award winning speeches, she says, “I trained
myself to think that I’m not going to win an award. So when I actually won the award at the Filmfare award function for the Best Actress [Critics Choice], I was really surprised and speechless.”
Shahana will be seen next in Nandita Das’s Firaaq in which she plays a mehendiwaali whose life gets a new perspective after the Gujarat carnage, and Jashn in which she plays an obsessive, alcoholic sister to Adhyayan Suman. “Working with Adhyayan was so much fun. I never thought he could be so funny, so dedicated and we would connect so well,” she says. Apart from acting in films she has also worked in a music video titled Let’s do things we normally do for British singer Dido .
When not shooting, she can mingle in a group of 20-somethings effortlessly. “I have a close-knit group of friends from school. We meet at each other’s house, go out and watch a play or a movie.”
And it’s not like things are looking up for only on the workfront. The actress says that dating Milind [Soman] makes her feel lucky. “We have known each other for many years through common friends, but the friendship transformed into love only a month back. The 21-year age difference is not a problem. Age is just a chronology and never shows in our conversations. He has brought a beautiful phase in my life.”
