Amar Singh said on Thursday that his journey in the Samajwadi Party has been from “being used as a dustbin” to being termed as “garbage”. The expelled leader said the party was making him the scapegoat for all decisions that later backfired. Amar Singh said that SP President
Mulayam Singh Yadav and his cousin Ram Gopal took all major decisions, while he was being blamed for things that went wrong.

“If they had asked me to take responsibility for all wrong decisions that they took, I would have done so. But it is a conspiracy to blame me...”, he said.

Referring to one such “wrong decision”, Singh said Mulayam and Kalyan Singh shared the dias during the SP’s convention in
Agra last year, while he was recuperating in Singapore. “But the entire blame for friendship with Kalyan Singh, accused for his role in the Ayodhya demolition case, is being shifted on me”, he said.

The former SP leader said that several Muslim leaders and workers were “shocked” at the party’s move to shake hands with Kalyan Singh.

Referring to the party’s decision to allot a ticket to Jaya Prada to contest the Lok Sabha seat from Rampur, Amar said Azam Khan had supported the move at that time. Khan was expelled five years later when he came out openly to oppose the party’s decision to re-nominate Jaya Prada in 2009.

“If it was wrong to give Jaya Prada the ticket for the first term, why was she nominated from the seat for the second time by the party,” Amar asked.
