Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah Wednesday said that the issue of the division of his state was in the hands of the central government while the Congress top brass met here to hammer out a possible soultion to the Telengana tangle. “The bifurcation issue is in the hand of the
centre,” Rosaiah, who is currently in New Delhi, told reporters.

The chief minister had already met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and other top party leaders. He said he had briefed them about the situation in  the state. “I have also personally appealed to (TRS Chief) Chandrasekhara Rao to end his fast.”

The Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh was on the boil Wednesday as massive demonstrations to press the demand for separate statehood and the fast-unto-death by Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhara Rao entered the 11th day. Doctors said Rao was in a serious condition.

In Hyderabad, K. Rama Rao, son of the fasting leader, said: “Some positive movements are going on (between Delhi and Hyderabad). I will not reveal anything right now.”
