BJP and Left members clashed in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday after Brinda Karat (CPI-M) demanded a fresh probe into Mecca Masjid blast in Hyderabad and sought to link the Ajmer blast to people connected with RSS. Trouble started when BJP demanded that Karat's remarks about RSS should be
expunged as the incident was related to individuals and not the organisation.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Karat asked how immediately after the bomb blasts, top ministers and officials linked the incidents in 2007 to Muslim community alleging connection with terrorist outfits of Huji and LeT.

She said groups acting in the name of Hindutva were later implicated in Malegaon case.

Karat said that RSS had expelled one of its functionaries. But linking these blasts with Muslims was "gravest injustice and shameful symbol of prejudice and communal profiling".

This was strongly objected to by BJP members Najma Heptulla and S S Ahluwalia who wanted that mention of RSS should be deleted from records. They said that RSS had condemned these incidents.

Ahluwalia said RSS was the obsession of the Left.

"You are always chanting RSS. Chant RSS several times a day, you will get salvation," he said.

Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan said he would go through the proceedings and find out whether Karat has said anything objectionable.
