Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday offered to increase sharing of intelligence inputs with India to avert attacks like the one in Pune on Saturday that claimed 10 lives. He said so during a meeting with visiting Senator John Kerry, chairman of the United States
Senate’s foreign relations committee.

“Let there be a formal proposal first,” responded a senior government official in New Delhi. “We can only react after that.”

“The Indian government should realise that continuing (to be) impassive in negotiations between the two countries will only benefits the militants and terrorists who are holding bilateral relations between the two countries hostage,” Gilani said.

“Pakistan has made progress in bringing the perpetrators of the Mumbai incident to justice and is determined not to allow use of its soil for any terrorist activity against any of its neighbours,” he added.
