BJP described as "post-poll political drama" the failure of the Congress-NCP alliance to reach an understanding on formation of a government in Maharashtra and said this was an insult to the people's mandate. "This is post-poll political drama of the pre-poll alliance between Congress and
NCP. Since the votes secured by them is a result of the division of Opposition votes, they are not able to digest the fact that they have got a majority," BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

Today is the last day for forming a government in Maharashtra as the term of the outgoing assembly comes to an end. BJP has already stated it would approach Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir and demand imposition of President's Rule in the state.

Naqvi said the manner in which Congress and NCP were "fighting on the streets" was an insult to the people's mandate.

Congress and NCP have differences over who should become Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister as well as over sharing of cabinet berths.
