Unfazed by BJP's attack on him, new Central Vigilance Commissioner PJ Thomas on Thursday said that he will take "judicious decision" on all matters that come up before him. "I will take judicious decisions on matters pending with me. The functions of CVC are clearly mentioned in the
statute," he told PTI when asked about opposition BJP's charge that his appointment was a "cover up" of 2G spectrum scam.

Thomas was sworn-in as the new CVC on Tuesday amidst a boycott of the ceremony by the BJP, which also complained to the President over the manner in which the appointment of the officer with a "blemished record" was made to the post.

59-year-old Thomas, former Telecom Secretary, was administered the oath of office for a four-year tenure.

"Our attempt would be to make India corruption free," he said.

When asked about the probe in Commonwealth Games related construction projects, he said, "My duties and functions are very well laid in the statute. I will act according to them."

An examination by the Chief Technical Examination wing of the Commission has pointed out financial irregularities in 16 projects related to the Games being carried out by different civic and construction agencies.

Thomas is a 1973 batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre. He succeeded Pratyush Sinha, a 1969 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, who demitted office on September six after a four-year tenure as CVC.
