Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today wrote to his Pakistani counterpart Yousaf Raza Gilani condoling the loss of lives in the tragic plane crash near Islamabad. "On behalf of the Government and the people of India, I convey my heartfelt condolences and sympathies to you and through you to
the bereaved families at this time of sorrow," Singh said in his letter to Gilani.

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna also wrote to his Pakistani counterpart S M Qureshi condoling the unfortunate loss of innocent lives.

In a message to Qureshi, the External Affairs Minister conveyed "deep condolences on behalf of the people and the Government of India to the people and the Government of Pakistan, especially to the bereaved families," an official release said in New Delhi.

In the worst air disaster in Pakistan in recent times, a private passenger jet crashed into Margalla Hills overlooking Islamabad in heavy rain amid poor visibility, killing all 155 people on board.
