Sunday’s accident on Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor could not have happened at a worse time. Delhi is to host Commonwealth Games in October 2010, which will see over one lakh people including athletes and officials from 72 participating countries, visiting Delhi. The entire phase 2 is to
be completed before that.

DMRC managing director E Sreedharan accepted that the accident gave them a setback of at least three months. Delhi Metro officials, however, said they would still be able to meet the deadline of September 2010. DMRC officials accepted that it would definitely affect the work schedule and would have its impact in deadlines too.

Three of the six corridors were to be inaugurated in the next five months. Sreedharan said there would be a comprehensive checking of all under-construction projects.
