The US on Thursday announced an assistance of $100,000 (about Rs 4 mn) for over two million people in Bihar who have been displaced by devastating floods.

"US ambassador to India David C Mulford has announced that the US will contribute $100,000 to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for assistance to victims of the recent floods in Bihar," the US embassy said in a statement in New Delhi.

Mulford "offered condolences to the families of those killed in the disaster and his government's willingness to provide further support as needed," the statement said.
