APPROACHING FESTIVAL season has triggered the North Central Railway (NCR) to launch a special drive against touts on directions of the Railway Board.
The drive is a part of the effort to help check malpractice prevailing in the booking, reservation and ticketing in trains.
As per the directions of the Railway Board, Vigilance and Commercial departments have been asked to carry out check against touts and also intensify vigilance at reservation windows.
The concerned wings have been asked to raid the premises of unauthorised travel agents with the help of local police in order to check blocking of reservation under fake name and subsequent sale of transferred tickets, said the railway sources.
Besides, directions have been issued to check resale of used tickets and misuse of various kinds of quotas including special emergency quota.
Sources said, under the drive it is also to be ensured that additional coach attachment is displayed on the PRS system in time so that waiting list is automatically updated.
And information about the additional coach attachment is to be given to the railway passengers on time through inquiry and PRS offices.
The drive is to be carried out in all the divisions of the NCR. On being contacted, Chief Public Relation Officer NCR BP Pandey said, "Instructions have already been given to the officers at the divisional level to carry out the checks.
Under the drive, special emphasis is being given to help check the malpractice including checking the activities of touts, overcharging by TTEs and intensify checking at reservation windows."
