More than anything, what most political players are waiting for now is that the government not only announce the dates for elections but also the composition of a caretaker set-up that will oversee elections.

The bigger challenge before the government is how it moves ahead with
the arrest warrants issued against Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.

The strategy, like that which was adopted in the contempt case of then PM Yousaf Raza Gilani, is to buy time at all costs.

Whether the Supreme Court plays along will be evident on Thursday when it expects the National Accountability Bureau to present the prime minister and other persons mentioned in its orders before it.

While political forces are in agreement over Qadri, the same consensus is not seen where the Supreme Court is concerned.

Most parties as well as the army have said that they will go with what the court orders.
