Akhtar makes his highly anticipated acting-singing debut in this rock-heavy youth drama. His character, Aditya Shroff, is a Delhi boy who leaves his affluent family home to chase his dream of becoming a singer in a rock band.
His flair for poetry with a message makes him a hit with Gen X. With Aditya are Joe Mascarenhas (Arjun Rampal), a man of few words who lets his guitar do the talking; KD (Purab Kohli) the ‘Killer Drummer’, the scion of a successful jeweller family; and Rob Nancy (Luke Kenny), the quiet problem-solver of the band.
This is the story of four friends who put together a great band, part ways, then meet again years later, setting off on a soul-searching pilgrimage into their past. Also, watch out for the pretty television actress Prachi Desai, who makes her film debut with Rock On.
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music is one of the high points of the film, with the title track, sung by Farhan Akhtar, already a chart-buster, thanks to the constant airtime it gets on the radio.
