Pushkar police on Wednesday arrested a 35-year old priest, Satayanarayn, a culprit who allegedly molested 28 -year young American tourist, Becky Mason on Tuesday in front of the Papmochni temple which is situated at the hilltop.
The police have registered a case against the accused and investigation was in progress which was being conducted by sub inspector Hanuman Singh Vishnoi.
When contacted, Vishnoi told HT that American tourist had gone to the local temple alone where the culprit sought her help in performing the ‘pooja’ and tried to molest her.
Becky, however,in her complaint said "I was clicking the beautiful pixs of the surroundings and went to the temple at the hilltop where the accused gave me flowers."
"then this person said 'I love you' and pounced on me but I resisted and succeeded in pushing him aside," she said.
She said "I ran down the hill with full speed and reached the hotel safe. I was totally terrified."
A local artist Ashok tank who met Becky at handicraft shop at Pushkar said "American tourist looked frightened and initially refused to talk to me. She was not inclined to register FIR but I tried to convince her about its utility."
Tank said "I told her if you run away from your responsibility then such thing can happen with other foreign tourists also which touched her heart and she agreed to lodge an compliant with the police."
The investigating officer vishnoi said that interrogation would reveal the exact motive of the culprit and report would be submitted to the senior official as soon as possible which would be followed by putting up the ‘challan' in the court.
Pushkar was in news when a driver and conductor of a haryana roadways bus tried to rape a foreign tourist who was coming from Ajmer last year.
Similarly, two persons tried to rape a foreign tourist in a three wheeler when they took her to unknown place outside the city at Jodhpur one and half year back.
