Israel is examining international proposals for reaching a permanent ceasefire in its massive offensive against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, a foreign ministry spokesman told AFP on Wednesday.
"There are several propositions submitted by diverse parties throughout the world," Yigal
Palmor said.
"There is a dialogue with these parties with the aiming to reach a serious deal for a permanent ceasefire under certain conditions" that will allow a "total" halt to Palestinian rocket fire from Gaza, he said.
"In order for this truce to be realistic, we need guarantees and conditions. Hamas must stop its rocket fire and acquiring arms. These are indispensable conditions if a permanent truce is to be seriously considered," he said.
