IndiGo launches daily flight between Delhi and Kathmandu

Low-cost carrier IndiGo on Firday launched its daily flight between Delhi and Kathmandu.

The airline will offer Kathmandu-Delhi air service at a return fare of Rs. 4,999, which is nearly half of the average airfare between Delhi and Kathmandu.

A320, the latest jetplane with the passenger capacity of 180, landed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu for the first time on Friday carrying 169 people from Delhi.

"We are very much excited to land our aircraft in Kathmandu. It is a key market for us and holds a lot of promise," Indigo President Aditya Ghosh told reporters here.

After Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore and Muscat, Kathmandu is the fifth international destination for IndiGo.

IndiGo will soon start Kathmandu-Calcutta air service and is planning to operate flights connecting Kathmandu with Mumbai and other South Indian cities.

"We hope to provide the much needed avenue for countless Indians to explore wider horizons and at the same time open up the doors to more and more overseas travellers to experience India," he said.

International Pvt Ltd Of Nepal President has been appointed as the General Sales Agent of IndiGo for Kathmandu.
