Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia on Thursday said it would cut over 1,000 information technology jobs as part of its restructuring plan.

The company said 820 employees will be transferred to HCL Technologies and Tata Consultancy Services while 300 jobs will be eliminated.

The financial details were, however, not disclosed.

“Nokia outlined a range of planned changes today to streamline its IT organisation. Nokia believes these changes will raise operational efficiency and reduce operating costs, creating an IT organisation appropriate for Nokia's current size and scope,” the company said in a statement.

The latest cuts are part of plans announced last June to cut 10,000 jobs gobally.

“The majority of those affected are in Finland. We are now beginning consultations with employee representatives where applicable, until those have concluded it would be inappropriate to comment in further detail,” a Nokia spokesperson said.
