R-com, lenovo tie up for gsm, cdma phones

Telecom firm Reliance Communications (RCOM), and PC manufacturer Lenovo on Thursday announced a tie-up to offer co-branded smart phones in India that can switch calls between CDMA and GSM based on strength and quality of radio frequency signals. They will operate on the latest Android OS
with  a dual core 1 GHz processor.

“Our partnership with Lenovo….is in line with our endeavour to develop the CDMA device ecosystem,” said Gurdeep Singh, president and CEO– wireless business, Reliance Communications.

“Lenovo’s partnership with Reliance creates strong synergies that leverage the unique strengths of both Reliance and Lenovo,” said Liu Jun, senior vice president Lenovo Group.
