Shilpa-Raj's Super Fight League has just got a facelift! Mary Kom has been signed as the brand ambassador for SFL.
Despite all the flak she drew for walking the ramp and attending glamour events ever since her return from the London Olympics in August this year, boxer Mary Kom remains unfazed and dismisses the criticism as “just a passing phase.”
“It’s a different kind of experience and I am enjoying all this right now. But boxing is my profession and I can never leave it. Mary Kom is a sportsperson by heart. For me, my sport comes first.”
She adds, “Only a few people knew me before the Games but now the whole nation wants my autographs. It took me eleven years but I finally did it!”
Her first-ever ramp walk for a charity fashion show, Kom recalls, made her very nervous. “I thought I would trip on the stage because of my long flowy dress. But I loved the way people cheered for me,” she says.
The boxer is also excited about the movie that filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is making on her life. “I am constantly in touch with Bhansali’s team for the scripting. The movie will show the hardships that I faced in my early days and will hopefully motivate the youngsters.”
Although, Kom has no idea who is to play her character in the movie, she wants the actor to be physically fit. “I would personally train the actor who will play my role... I want her to be fit and totally rough and tough,” she says.
She is also taking out time of her busy schedule to spend more time with her family specially kids. “I didn’t see my kids for two months while I was in London. They used to call me and ask when are you coming home?,” says Kom. When home she helps her kids in their homework. So, is she a strict mom? “Ya, sometimes I do scold them to discipline them but mostly for them its fun time with mom.”
Kom is also the brand ambassador for Super Fight League, a sports show founded by entrepreneur Rahj Kundra and co founded by actor Sanjay Dutt. “I met Raj and Shilpa for SFL and they both are nice and cordial people.”
