This Friday, there was reason for the film industry to feel a wee bit relieved as cinema halls saw decent arrivals.
Compared to the past few weeks, there was an increase in ticket sales but only at the single screens. Still, tradewallas are hopeful that the upcoming vacation period will
help phase out the dull period.

Sangeeth Sivan’s Ek —The Power of One took a better opening as compared to the other two releases. In single screens, the collections were between 30 and 40 per cent while at multiplexes, they ranged between 20 and 30 per cent.

No show
The second release, Jehangir Surti’s Aa Dekhen Zara, opened to 25 to 35 per cent at limited multiplexes. Single screens recorded between 20 and 30 per cent collections. The film is unlikely to score more at the ticket windows.

The third release, Deepa Mehta’s Videsh — Heaven on Earth, started on a poor note everywhere. All five releases of last week, Aloo Chaat, Barah Aana, Firaaq, Straight and Lottery figured among the duds of the year.

Meanwhile, Little Zizou is sustaining well in Mumbai, at select multiplexes, in its third week.
