Even as debate continues over the suicide of Ram Singh, one of the accused of gang rape of 23 years old Delhi gang rape victim, the latter’s father termed Singh’s suicide as ‘justice’ to the family.

Rape victim’s father who visited capital to collect her daughter’s marksheet became
emotional and said he preferred Dehradun for her daughter’s education since it was ‘safe place’.

“Ram Singh committed suicide since he must be feeling guilty, I am happy that we have got some sort of justice” gang rape victim’s father was quoted as saying here on Tuesday afternoon at his daughter’s institute from where she was doing course on Physiotherapy.

The brave girl secured over 70% in her last exams. The result though was declared last year but marksheet was dispatched in January this year.

“It was an emotional moment not only for the parents but also all of us” told Managing Director of the Private Institute to HT on Wednesday morning.

The girl was student at the private institute and had moved Delhi after appearing in her last semester, perhaps the last exam of her life.

“We always considered Doon as a safe place for her to study. she would always say that she would support family after completing study but..(sobbing)” the father was further quoted as saying.

As per MD of the institute, father was also accompanied with the brother of the girl. There was no prior intimation of their visit since the family does not wanted the private event a 'public event'. The institute had offered to return full fee of the girl which father refused.

“The father refused to accept the fee of Rs. 1.85 lakhs and suggested us to run a scholarship in the victim’s name” added MD.
