The Amritsar Games Association (AGA) has suspended its honorary secretary Mohit Khanna on the charges of 'influencing the selection process' of the district-level cricket teams. "We have placed him under suspension till the inquiry is completed agaist him," said AGA president and deputy
commissioner Rajat Aggarwal on Wednesday.

Aggarwal said that the action was taken as the AGA had received numerous complaints against Khanna that he had allegedly tried to or influenced the process of selection of different district-level cricket teams. The complaints were received from players, coaches and other members of the AGA, he added.

On the charges of 'mis-handling' of the accounts of AGA against Mohit, Aggarwal said: "The probe is also covering this aspect as there were complaints of mis-utilisation of funds of AGA. A case of over-claim of TA/DA w is under my notice."

The DC admitted that industries minister Anil Joshi had also met him in this regard. The minister felt that players' interest came first and if they were unhappy with the selection process, action should be taken against the erring official.
