ASI Ravinder Pal Singh, who fought for his daughter and was murdered, was the sole bread-earner of the family.
The policeman is survived by wife Paramjit Kaur, 23-year-old daughter Robanjeet Kaur, and son Navpreet Singh, who lives in Australia.
The family has a house at Rampura
village near Khasa and the ASI was posted at Gharinda police station.
"The family is finished. Ravinder Pal Singh was the backbone of the family and was the only earning hand. The Akali leader has destroyed the entire family," said Mahavir Singh, a village resident.
The villagers, who mourned the death, demanded that the Shiromani Akali Dal must introspect and see what their leaders were doing.
Family sources claimed that the family depended on the salary of the deceased policeman and did not have much land.
