Punjab cabinet minister Anil Joshi on Sunday handed over a cheque for Rs. 1.50 crore to municipal commissioner Dharampal Gupta for the facelift of the historical Ram Bagh gardens.
While handing over the cheque, the minister said, "The Punjab government has decided to spend Rs. 3 crore
on the beautification of Ram Bagh. The remaining money will be handed over to the municipal corporation soon."

Joshi stressed that Ram Bagh was an important landmark of the city which was popular among both locals and tourists. "So it is important to give this place a facelift," he said.

Joshi said the state government was laying a lot of stress on the development of Amritsar. "The government is also trying to improve the road connectivity of Amritsar in a big way with an aim of giving a fillip to tourism in the city. Transport facilities are being overhauled," he said, appealing to residents to keep the city clean.
