BSF foils Pak smugglers' bid, seizes 7-kg heroin

The Border Security Force (BSF) seized 7 kg of heroin estimated to be worth Rs. 35 crore in the international market after a brief exchange of fire with Pakistani smugglers near the Chanmulla border outpost in the Amritsar sector on Wednesday night.

Thursday said that BSF jawans on duty at the Chanmulla outpost noticed some movement in the Indian territory close to the zero line. On being challenged by the BSF jawans, the smugglers opened fire on the security forces.

The BSF jawans too retaliated with firing, forcing the smugglers to flee into Pakistan.

After searching the area in the morning, BSF troops found seven packets of heroin, weighing 1 kg each, in a field close to the border.
