The complainant alleged that her daughter Parminder Kaur, who was married to Sahil Kumar, had died. Inspector Sanjeev Kumar, SHO of Civil Lines police station, said that the complainant suspected that the accused made Parminder consume some poisonous substance. He added that investigations were on into the matter.

In yet another case, police have booked Harpinder Singh of Kot Mit Singh, Maninder Kaur of New Gurnam Nagar and Dilbagh Singh of Tarn Taran on charge of abetment to suicide of Gurpreet Kaur, wife of Harpinder.

A case in this regard has been registered against the accused at Sultanwind police station under Sections 306 and 34 of the IPC on the complaint of deceased's father Balbir Singh of New Gurnam Nagar. ASI Jarnail Singh of Sultanwind police station, who is probing the case, said that the deceased was a mother of two children.

“Her father has alleged that Harpinder Singh had illicit relations with Maninder. The complainant has also charged Dilbagh Singh with instigating Harpinder to marry Maninder,” he said. He added that the deceased committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance on April 21.

He maintained that efforts were on to arrest the accused. Simultaneously, the police claim to have arrested five persons, including two women, on charges of immoral trafficking. The accused have been identified as Bholi of Jagdambay Colony, Sonu of Verka and Kawaljit Singh, Kuldip Singh and Karanpreet Singh, all residents of Maqboolpura.
