The victim, Sohan, who was in his forties, was in love with a 22-year-old girl.

He reportedly called the girl near the UBDC tributary on some pretext, where he poisoned her and then himself.

The girl reportedly dodged the man and spitted out the tablets.

While Sohan died, the girl was rushed to the civil hospital by some villagers.

Police official Vipin Kumar said the girl had been hospitalized. Her condition is stated to be out of danger. The girl informed the police that Sohan was against her marriage to someone else and this drove him to take the extreme step.

Meanwhile, the police have recorded the statements of both the families. A case has been  registered.

The police are carrying out further investigations.
