Industry minister Anil Joshi inaugurated a Rs. 1-crore sewerage and water supply project in ward number 13 along the Batala road here on Saturday.
Addressing a public gathering after the inauguration ceremony, Joshi assured city residents that the facility of clean drinking water and sewerage would be made available in all localities of Amritsar.
"A sum of Rs. 2,834 crore is being spent by the state government on sewerage project in all cities and towns of the state. In due course, the facility will be made available in every street of all towns and cities of Punjab," he said.
On the alleged lack of development of this area, Joshi said that special emphasis was being laid on the development of this ward.
He said that after the completion of the sewerage and water supply works, the authorities would undertake road construction work in the ward.
Joshi announced that two tubewells would be installed in Gokul Vihar to provide clean drinking water.
The residents of the area honoured the minister with a 'siropa'. Councillor Rashpal Singh Babbu and BJP leaders Manav Taneja, Anuj Sikka and Rakesh Sharma were also present on the occasion.
