SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar has appealed to the Pakistan High Commission to grant visas to as many people as possible for pilgrimage to Sikh shrines in Pakistan on the occasion of Baisakhi. The SGPC jatha of pilgrims will be leaving for Pakistan on April 10.

It will visit the shrines of Nanakana Sahib, Panja Sahib and Dera Sahib before returning home.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Makkar said a list of 1,350 pilgrims and their passports had been forwarded to the Pakistan High Commission through the ministry of external affairs.

He has appealed for visas to all the pilgrims as "it is the desire of every Sikh to pay obeisance at the historical shrines in Pakistan".
