The office-bearers of a number of local NGOs met Pathankot MLA Ashwani Sharma to apprise him of the sufferings of the patients due to the shortage of doctors at the civil hospital.
They said that even after Pathankot was declared a district, various posts, including that of civil
surgeon, are vacant. They said patients are forced to go to Gurdaspur for treatment.

Chairman of Pathankot Vikas Manch Narinder Kala said that the post of child specialist was still vacant, while the orthopedic surgeon visits once or twice in a week. Sharma said that he was already in touch with the authorities and all the vacant posts of doctors would be filled soon.
