After a month-long stint in the Bigg Boss house, Amritsar member of Parliament Navjot Singh Sidhu is getting ready to head to Gujarat to campaign for his party Bharatiya Janata Party for the assembly polls.

On Monday, Sidhu was received at the airport by his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu and party workers to the beating of drums. At his house, more party workers were ready with bouquets.

"It was a great experience to be part of the reality show," Sidhu said. "It was also a learning experience."

According to Sidhu, the show's format tests a person's character as one is cut off from the outside world and thrust into the company of strangers.

Stressing that TV was his profession and politics his mission, Sidhu said, "I would have liked to stay on in the house, but quit because I wanted to do my duty for the party. Now my focus is on the Gujarat polls. I feel that Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi has changed the face of the state; people understand that."

Sidhu will leave for Gujarat between November 15 and 16. "Modi has taken Gujarat from zero to hero. One can see the kind of development being done in the state. No other political party has answer to this kind of development."

Asked about his reality TV experience, Sidhu said, "There are lots of moments in the Bigg Boss house that I will remember for the rest of my life. I wanted to show people the actual Navjot Singh Sidhu. I was myself in the house; my aim was not to defame or disrespect anyone." He admitted that the show put a lot of mental pressure. "I tried to be strong enough," he added.

Sidhu, who arrived in Amritsar with his daughter Rabia, celebrated Diwali with BJP workers and family members at his house.

Memorable Bigg Boss moment
"There are many, but a particularly special one was when I was made a Major. I had always dreamed of joining the Army, but my family stopped me. When I wore that uniform, I felt proud and also relived my dream."
