Rana sent in police custody for five days

ASI murder accused Ranjit Singh Rana was sent to five-day police custody by a court at Patti.


Rana was produced in the court on Thursday, whereas the other two, Prabhjit and Dharamveer, were produced in the court on Friday.

Tarn Taran SSP KS Dhillon said the court sent Rana to five-day police custody whereas other accused Prabhjit Singh alias Sandy and Dharamveer alias Dharma were sent to police custody for two days.

Dhillon said, "All three accused were taken to the court and later were admitted to the hospital. We have deputed 12 policemen in the hospital and a close eye is being kept on Rana."

Dhillon said they were not allowing anyone to meet Rana.

Meanwhile, another murder accused, Gurbeer Singh Beera, was sent in police custody till December 10.

Rana, Prabhjit and Dharamveer are still in the custody of Tarn Taran police for a case registered against them there after they allegedly opened fire on a police party.

Amritsar police commissioner Ram Singh said, "We will get the custody of the three after the Tarn Taran police is done with the investigation."
