The police claimed to have cracked the murder case of a migrant woman, Bimla, by arresting one Sunil Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
Talking to mediapersons, ADCP city (2) AS Puar said, "On October 22, we received a complaint from one Gurnam Singh that the door of his room, which
he has given on rent, was locked from inside and foul smell was coming from it. When the room was opened, we found body of a pregnant woman lying there."
It was learnt that Sunil Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, who was living with the woman was missing for the past few days.
The ADCP said, "While working on the case, we caught hold of a relative of Sunil. On the basis of information, Sunil was nabbed from Ludhiana railway station. During questioning, Sunil said he was married and had come to Punjab with a woman, Bimla, of his village few months ago."
Bimla who was pregnant was pressuring Sunil to take her back to village and marry her, police said, adding that Sunil strangled her and fled away.
